AKRONSuspect in slayingAKRON: Akron police have issued a warrant for a suspect in last week’s shooting death near Summit Lake.Robert A. Davis Jr., 20, of Akron, is wanted on aggravated murder and robbery charges. He remained at large.He is accused in the Jan. 10 shooting death of Phillip Anderson, 24, who was found shot inside a car parked in the 800 block of Princeton Street.Davis lives on the same street.An alleged accomplice, Demarcus Williams, 20, of Akron, was arrested last week on complicity charges of aggravated murder and robbery.Police said Davis is likely armed and should be considered dangerous.Anyone with information about Davis’ whereabouts is asked to contact Akron police detectives at 330-375-2490. Break-in at schoolAKRON: Several computers were taken from an Akron middle school during a break-in Monday night, according to police.A private security firm monitoring Roswell Kent Middle School contacted police about 9 p.m. to report the break-in.Officers say an unknown number of people broke two windows to the school at 1445 Hammel St.Once inside, the thief or thieves loaded five or six computers and monitors into a trash container and carried them out. JACKSON TWP.Odd heist at storeJACKSON TWP.: Police are investigating a robbery at the Record Exchange, 4464 Belden Village St. NW.The robbery occurred about 4:30 p.m. Thursday when a man entered the business yelling and holding a yellow sledgehammer.The man grabbed an Xbox 360 off a display shelf and fled the store. He left in a tan or light brown SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Blazer or Jimmy, with a female passenger.A store manager attempted to pursue the robber, but the man threatened to kill him.Police were looking for a white male, late 20s to early 30s, with brown hair. He was wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans.Anyone with information is asked to call the Jackson Township Police Department at 330-834-3960.SUMMIT COUNTYTax bills mailedAKRON: Summit County started mailing first-half 2011 real estate tax bills on Tuesday, Fiscal Officer Kristen Scalise said. The bills must be paid by Feb. 17 to avoid a 10 percent penalty.Taxes may be mailed or paid in person from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Fiscal Office treasurer division on the third floor of the Ohio Building, 175 S. Main St.Other payment options are:• Through the Regional Tax Collection System. A list of participating banks is included on the tax bills. Checks must be made payable to the banking institution.• Credit card or e-check. Property owners can pay with MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express or electronic check by phone or online. Payments are processed by Official Payments Corp., which charges a service fee of up to 3 percent for credit cards and $2 for an electronic check. To pay by phone, call 800-272-9829. Follow the instructions on the recorded message. The jurisdiction code for Summit County is 4596.The county offers a Tax Installment Program for home-owners who cannot pay the full amount.
